Going Solo

Dedicated style hounds no longer need to hunt for their
next Solo table or chair, but they do have to head to Jakarta, where the
boutique furniture company has opened its first retail showroom. Set in
a homey two-storey Destinasian December 2003/January 2004
building in the city’s leafy Kebayoran neighborhood, Solo Store
is
brimming with the stunning rare-wood furnishings and home accessories
that have earned this Indonesia brand international acclaim. Look to locally
based design duo Jaya Ibrahim and John Saunders for the inspiration here.
Their three collections – Dacha, Cinere, and Majapahit-revel in
an eclectic blend of centuries-old Javanese craftsmanship and classic
European influences, with shapes reduced to their simplest form. You’ll
never look at your home the same way again.
